Ruth’s Books, etc

My first book, Jewish Heritage Travel: A Guide to Eastern and Central Europe, was published in 1992 by John Wiley & Sons. It went through three later editions, the most recent published as National Geographic Jewish Heritage Travel: A Guide to Eastern Europe, in 2007. This edition was published in Hungarian translation, as a hardback, in 2010.

This book remains the most comprehensive guidebook to the historic Jewish heartland in Europe.

My book Virtually Jewish: Reinventing Jewish Culture in Europe (University of California Press, 2002), set some of the parameters and coined some of the vocabulary used to today in discussions of the evolution and uses of Jewish culture in contemporary Europe.
